The neighbourhood

How La Hoya is growing

Sector 20 "La Hoya" is Torrevieja's major new neighbourhood: a 1.8 million m² urban plan that will transform the northern entrance to the town over the next decade.

What is La Hoya?

La Hoya is a development sector to the north-east of Torrevieja, between the El Chaparral area, the Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park, Quirónsalud Hospital, Jardín del Mar and the CV-905 road.

Its partial plan provides for around 7,000 homes (some sources say up to 7,500), part of them subsidised housing, for a future population of about 18,000 people. It is one of the most ambitious residential developments in the Valencia region.

Unlike other coastal urbanisations, La Hoya is planned as a complete neighbourhood: with shops, schools, parks and walkways, connected to the town centre, to La Mata and to the beaches.

The neighbourhood

What the neighbourhood will have

The plan sets aside a large share of the land for public uses and services. These are the main ones:

400,000 m² of green space

Parks and walkways between the pine woods south of La Mata lagoon and the residential plots, plus a reforestation project next to the natural park.

Shopping area

A large retail and services area within the neighbourhood itself, in addition to the nearby shopping centres.

Schools

Land reserved for a secondary school and a nursery school.

New access roads

Direct links to the N-332 and CV-905, a boulevard towards La Mata and Cabo Cervera, and pedestrian crossings over the N-332.

Water management

It is the first major development in Torrevieja where rainwater collection is mandatory.

Homes for everyone

Apartments, bungalows, townhouses and villas, with a share reserved for subsidised housing.
