The diggers are already at work in La Hoya. Bauhaus, the German DIY, building, home and garden chain, has started building its new store in Torrevieja, with an investment of €39 million. It will be one of the big retail facilities of the new neighbourhood.
What the store will be like
- 13,000 m² of total floor space
- 9,000 m² of sales floor
- 1,700 m² drive-in area to load materials straight into your car
- 2,300 m² city garden (garden centre)
- Around 150 direct jobs and 100 indirect ones
It will stand between the new José Carreras avenue and the roundabout at the entrance to the sector, next to the N-332. The company expects to open its doors in the first quarter of 2027.
A delayed project
Bauhaus was granted its building licence in August 2024, but it was revoked after an appeal by a competitor and the procedure had to start again. With the new municipal approval, works have begun more than a year later than planned.
What it means for La Hoya
The arrival of Bauhaus confirms that La Hoya will not just be a residential area. The Hiperber supermarket is already open, and new Aldi and Consum supermarkets, a Hermanos García furniture store and the offices of several developers are expected. For anyone buying a home in the neighbourhood today, having a large store to furnish and maintain the house within walking distance is a practical advantage.
You can see all the planned openings on the interactive map of La Hoya.
